Steps taken to Measure in Ludhiana District

SONI) : Ahead of the monsoon season, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana Mr Rajat
Agarwal today visited the weak points along the Budha Nullah and Sutlej river
passing through the district. Accompanied by the Drainage department officials,
the DC visited the points near Gaunspura, Khaira Bet and Manewal villages and
took stock of the flood control measures in place there.
The Deputy
Commissioner said that he visited these points today so that if any of them
wants to be either repaired or strengthened, it could be done well before time.
He said that the district administration officials had been asked to identify
those points that might cause some problem during the monsoon season.
He said that the
Drainage department officials have been asked to make sure all the weak points
along the Sutlej river and Budha Nullah are
repaired on time. The DC even asked the government officials to make sure the
Budha Nullah is cleaned on time so that it does not overflow during the rainy
season.
Deputy
Commissioner Mr Rajat Agarwal said that they would prepare an estimate of works
to be carried out in view of monsoon season and forward it to the Punjab government so that required funds could be
allocated for the same. The DC said that the district administration is ready
to tackle any flood like situations and all weak points along the Sutlej river and Budha Nullah would be further
strengthened.
The DC was
accompanied by Executive Engineer of Drainage Department Mr Baljit Singh
Sandhu, SDO Mr Gurtej Singh Garcha, AE Mr Harjitpal Singh, besides others.
